General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM), known for its stylish hotels and resorts worldwide, has announced the expansion of The Chedi Al Bait in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The new wing, Bait Khalid bin Ibrahim at The Serai Wing, is the result of a meticulous restoration of the former residence of early 20th century pearl merchant Khalid bin Ibrahim.
Heritage inspired architecture
The new wing will consist of two main houses spanning 1,000 square meters, adding 12 additional guest rooms and suites to The Chedi Al Bait. The space is ideal for customized group stays seeking a luxurious retreat. The wing’s architecture reflects traditional Emirati aesthetic elements such as high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and original brickwork.
Al Bait – A home away from home
Al Bait means “home” in Arabic. In keeping with this name, the new area offers guests a journey into the home of a family in 20th century Sharjah. The modern design of the accommodations in the two houses preserves the aesthetics of traditional architecture and residential design in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Exclusive amenities and facilities
In addition to the museum, café and Nomani restaurant at The Chedi Al Bait, guests at the new wing can enjoy amenities designed specifically for adults. These include a large, temperature-controlled swimming pool in each house, private hot tubs, a lounge, a yoga studio and a dining room for social gatherings.
Environmentally friendly practices
The hotel is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and implementing environmentally friendly practices. This includes completely eliminating plastic and switching to sustainable alternatives such as steel and glass straws, biodegradable trash and glass water bottles. In addition, the hotel has its own portable water filtration system that produces premium carbonated and non-carbonated water for guests and employees. The mineral-enriched water is bottled in disinfected glass bottles and offered in the rooms, stores and restaurants of the Chedi Al Bait.
