WEF 2024 – Challenges at Zurich Airport

WEF 2024 Flughafen Zürich

In mid-January 2024, Davos will become the hub of global business and politics when the World Economic Forum (WEF) opens its doors. Zurich Airport plays a key role in this international event, acting as the main port of call for prominent guests from the worlds of business, politics and society.

The WEF 2024: A platform for global leaders

The WEF 2024, which will take place from 15 to 19 January 2024, is more than just a conference. It is a melting pot where leading minds from different sectors come together to discuss pioneering ideas and solutions to global challenges. This year, as in previous years, a significant number of additional flight movements are expected during the WEF days.

Zurich as a gateway

Zurich Airport plays a central role in this. It will serve as the primary gateway for arriving participants, with a mix of business jets, state aircraft and political and security-related helicopter transports expected. The number of additional aircraft movements is estimated at around 1,000, an impressive figure that emphasises the importance and scope of the forum.

Focus on sustainability

Sustainability is a particular focus this year. In a remarkable initiative, Jet Aviation, in cooperation with Zurich Airport, is offering WEF guests the opportunity to refuel their aircraft with a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend. This measure symbolises the commitment of the WEF and its participants to a more environmentally conscious future.

A paradise for aviation fans

Not only WEF participants, but also aviation fans and other interested parties can enjoy this event. Various spotter areas around the airport, including spectator terrace B, offer ideal conditions for experiencing the action up close. With extended opening hours from 08:00 to 20:00 from 13 to 19 January, Terrace B offers an excellent platform to witness the arrival of state aircraft such as the Boeing 747-800, 747-900, 777 as well as the Airbus 330 and 340.

Summary

The WEF 2024 in Davos is not only a meeting of global leaders, but also a showcase for sustainable innovation and a magnet for aviation enthusiasts. Zurich Airport plays a decisive role and offers a unique perspective on this globally recognised event. With a mix of diplomatic activity and sustainability efforts, WEF 2024 is setting new standards for international conferences and demonstration events.
